3 big names set to blow you away at REVOLUTION 2020

March 26, 2020 | Camille Charluet

Harmful greenhouse gas emissions, expensive fuel prices, and maddening noise pollution—just a few of the many issues surrounding the current state of mobility. But a different vision—one that’s cleaner, cheaper, and quieter—is on the horizon. So, how do we transition toward electric mobility, fast?

Individual action is powerful, but given the rate of urbanization, it’s simply not enough. Businesses in the eMobility ecosystem, governments, and cities must join forces to shape the future of mobility. From an environmental standpoint, eMobility is an excellent answer to the global cry for decarbonization.

And that’s where the idea for REVOLUTION was born: Europe’s annual mobility conference working to accelerate the transition toward a zero-emission future. By uniting over 1000 thought leaders, climate advocates, and cleantech professionals under one roof, REVOLUTION aims to raise awareness about the need for change and create a ripple effect in society at large.

revolution-2020

After three successful editions in Amsterdam, and the first REVOLUTION Connected in New York in 2019, REVOLUTION is back in Amsterdam on March 31, 2020. Taking over Westergas for the second time—the buzzing creative complex in lush green Westerpark—this year’s event promises to educate and inspire like never before. But before we dive into the big names set to take the stage, let’s take a look at what else is on this year's exciting agenda:

This is how REVOLUTION 2020 will get you charged up

After listening to inspiring keynotes on the main stage, it's time to enter the domes! Explore four intimate workshop domes, each delving into a different area of mobility. From industry trends with Bloomberg, to closed-loop supply chains with B.Corp, plus many more, expect plenty of interesting discussions and practical takeaways.

revolution-2020

Over in the EV Arena, industry experts will battle it out for the ultimate future of mobility. From on-stage debates (in the boxing ring...), to audience-wide interactive brainstorms, this is your chance to get charged up and make your voice heard.

For those looking to connect with other players in the industry, the Startup Village and Market Place are the best bet. From startup pitches, to networking with decision makers and investors, or exploring our partners' latest products and innovations, these are areas not to miss.

And what would a great event be without cool tech and delicious food? With all-day catering included in your ticket, take your pick from the many vegetarian food trucks. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the many EV innovations on show outside the Gashouder, plus lots more surprises. And without further ado... here are three inspiring speakers set to blow you away at REVOLUTION 2020:

Bernice Notenboom, Polar Explorer and Climate Journalist

Bernice Notenboom is a climate journalist, science writer, filmmaker, keynote speaker, and professional adventurer. In 2008 she became the first woman to reach the North, South, and Cold Pole (in Siberia), and traversed Greenland's icecap on skis in one year. In 2009 she became the second Dutch woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest—all in all, some pretty crazy, inspiring stuff.

Unfortunately though, Bernice's life as a polar explorer is over due to the rapid effects of climate change—but it's not all doom and gloom. Join Bernice at the Main Stage at 16:20 to learn how we can play our part to turn things around—because as she explains: "the alternative is unimaginable and unacceptable."

André Borschberg, CEO and co-founder of Solar Impulse

André Borschberg is a Swiss entrepreneur, explorer, pilot, and speaker. He's also the co-founder of the Solar Impulse project: the first-ever round-the-world solar flight, successfully completed in July 2016. During the Japan to Hawaii leg, he broke the world record for longest solo flight in an airplane of any kind: 117 hours and 52 minutes!

Inventing the first plane to fly day and night without fuel is a giant leap for aviation and has already begun to transform a number of industries. André is a strong believer that dreams are what fuel innovation. Don't miss him share his incredible experiences at 10:00, alongside some sound advice as to how we can all achieve the impossible and invent a brighter future.

Thomas Ulbrich, Board Member of Volkswagen

Thomas Ulbrich is a Member of the Board of Management at Volkswagen. With an extensive background in logistics, Ulbrich is responsible for the new Board of Management division for eMobility—the segment in charge of Volkswagen's electric mobility series.

As we heard during REVOLUTION 2019, Volkswagen is committed to driving electric vehicles from niche to mainstream, all over the globe. If you're keen to hear how this global car manufacturer is delivering on its promise, then don't miss Thomas Ulbrich's talk at 12:20 on the Main Stage.
